With the increasingly turbulent and wet weather over recent years, schools guttering systems are becoming more and more loaded and under strain; this school in Milton Keynes was no exception. With almost all of it’s guttering at full capacity.
Some school gutter cleaning projects can be carried out with vacuum units and cameras, but most commercial or education jobs require cherry pickers or scissor lifts. All our team have an IPAF certification and are trained and used to working at height. With this project we utilised a large 4 wheel drive Skyjack scissor lift. This gave us enough space for 2 members. A generator and a large vacuum unit as well as our tools. As this was a school; as well as moss, foliage and leaves, the gutters were also blocked with tennis balls, footballs and trainers and whole range of school wear.
The Video shows how important it is to get down pipes as well as gutters checked and cleaned. In this instance the gutter was overflowing back into the ceiling of the upstairs of the school and over the top of the gutter channel.
We used our camera system and found the blockage, which unfortunately was dead pigeon as well as debris that was blocked behind it. Click on the video to see how simple it was to fix and save the school money in repair bills.
